A First World Problem
Mar 2012 12

The first step with any addiction is admitting you have a problem so here it goes, I’m addicted to buying gadgets in particular Apple products. In the house at the moment I have an iMac, iPad, 2 x MacBook pro, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 2 x iPod touch, iPod nano, iPod classic and a 3rd gen 30gig iPod. It is embarrassing really now I have written it down but this is all part of the healing process. To be clear I haven’t gone out and bought all this in the last week some of the items are my wife’s and kids but in some way I have been responsible for their purchase.
The launch of the ‘New iPad’ has tested me greatly, with it’s high resolution screen, A5x processor and better camera. With all the kit I have mentioned how can I possibly even think of justifying a further purchase. I skipped the iPad2 but not before putting my iPad 1 up on eBay leaving it there for an hour before coming to my senses and taking it off the auction site. I had felt proud of myself being sensible and not spending the money and deciding to wait for the third version. Now that 3rd version is here I have been driving myself, my wife and my colleagues mad with my obsession and ever changing mind. I have gone through several plans of how to fund the purchase, sell my iPad, sell my MacBook pro or wait for my birthday and hope everyone is very generous. All of these plans have been widely discussed with anyone who will listen. Writing this has helped me realise that I have no need for another apple product but my god do I want one!
