I went along to this year’s Broadcast Video Expo at Earls Court, I go most years but this year I was on the hunt to how the industry is looking forwards to IPTV/Video-On-Demand and Multi-Screen output. (for those that do not know, Multi-Screen refers to delivering to all devices from TV to laptop to tablet to phone) I got the chance to see some other cool things like a sweet mini steady cam cradle for your smart phone. I also popped along to a few interesting seminars about Cloud and video formats and how these are evolving to handle the needs of the next evolution of the TV experience.
Doesn’t look very comfy, but I want one!
I enjoy a good iPhone bashing as much as the next Android fan, but come on apple this is one app too far..

A phone and projector combo! able to create a picture up to 50″. Not sure anyone needs it but it is a cool idea.
That is a lot of megapixle’s for a camera let alone a phone!
This was shot on a Go Pro Hero and launched from Germany. Check out some the footage from about 2 minutes 30 in. Stunning work.
The first step with any addiction is admitting you have a problem so here it goes, I’m addicted to buying gadgets in particular Apple products. In the house at the moment I have an iMac, iPad, 2 x MacBook pro, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 2 x iPod touch, iPod nano, iPod classic and a 3rd gen 30gig iPod. It is embarrassing really now I have written it down but this is all part of the healing process. To be clear I haven’t gone out and bought all this in the last week some of the items are my wife’s and kids but in some way I have been responsible for their purchase.
The launch of the ‘New iPad’ has tested me greatly, with it’s high resolution screen, A5x processor and better camera. With all the kit I have mentioned how can I possibly even think of justifying a further purchase. I skipped the iPad2 but not before putting my iPad 1 up on eBay leaving it there for an hour before coming to my senses and taking it off the auction site. I had felt proud of myself being sensible and not spending the money and deciding to wait for the third version. Now that 3rd version is here I have been driving myself, my wife and my colleagues mad with my obsession and ever changing mind. I have gone through several plans of how to fund the purchase, sell my iPad, sell my MacBook pro or wait for my birthday and hope everyone is very generous. All of these plans have been widely discussed with anyone who will listen. Writing this has helped me realise that I have no need for another apple product but my god do I want one!
